Join Sacred Warrior facilitator, Jennifer Ekeleme the Jaguar Rescue Center and incredible local teachers on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. You’ll stay at Hidden Garden, an ecolodge and ethnobotany center in the jungle that is walking distance from beautiful beaches.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You’ll wake each morning in silence until morning movement and meditation practice. The elements—earth, water, fire, air, ether—frame the focus, teaching, and excursion of each day. You’ll start from the ground up on day one, with the element of earth. Throughout our time together we’ll explore plant ally & medicine work, hike in primary growth rainforest and connect with Costa Rica’s diverse wildlife. Our food is local, organic and delicious!

Jennifer Ekeleme (Retreat Leader & Facilitator)
Jennifer Ekeleme is a wellness advocate and Sacred Warrior Herbal apprentice based in NYC. Jennifer will be co-leading the upcoming Renew & Rewild retreat in Costa Rica with local teachers to help attendees cultivate a deeper relationship between people, plants and the land. Her retreat will focus on integrative wellness practices for people to bring home into their daily lives. Her goal is to help people make more space for self-care and to realize their innate connection to nature.
Ancel Mitchell has been a practicing botanist and herbalist for 10 years in Costa Rica. Born and raised in Scotland, she has also lived in England and the US. Her deep connection to nature and sense of place feeds her creativity and curiosity which push her ever deeper into exploring the natural environment. A Waldorf educator for over 20 years, Ancel delights in bringing new and different perspectives into her teaching, making her classes rich, fresh, and fun. She leads our students in plant ally work, bringing local knowledge, intuitive questions, and a delight in the relationships between plants and people into our time together. Ancel also co-facilitates the Magic, Medicine & Myth retreat in Scotland.
Victor Umaña is an incredible cook, jungle guide and herbalist born and raised in Puerto Viejo. Having learned from his grandparents and other elders, Victor now openly shares his healing wisdom with friends and family. His new business, Wolaba Tours, encourages visitors to see the rainforest from the eyes of a “bush man”, teaching the magic of the plants through sensual experience out in the field.
Tino Grenald is one of the most knowledgeable naturalists on the Caribbean. A former Park Ranger, he’s been leading groups through the lush rainforests of the Caribbean Coast since 1992. Tino will hike with us through the Gandoca-Manzanillo reserve, pointing out caimans, howler monkeys, frogs, snakes and whatever other wild creatures we may encounter along the way.
Catherine is a professional wellness and movement educator, former dancer and former multi-sport athlete. She holds certifications in Vinyasa and Restorative yoga, energy therapy (various modalities including Shambala Reiki Master Teacher), Pilates and Clinical Health Coaching. She also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from New York University, a B.A in Anthropology and B.A in Global Health & Diversity from the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill

Rate includes lodging, all workshops, excursions and two meals per day. Transportation not included. However, we will help you reserve a van to pick up from the airport in San Jose, Costa Rica that will take you directly to Hidden Garden in Puerto Viejo. You can also opt to fly from San Jose to Limon.
