Plants, Power & People

As long as humans have inhabited this earth, there’s been a life-supporting, palpable connection between us and the natural world. Before grocery stores, before pharmaceuticals, before physicians, before farming; humans foraged, experimented and communicated with the plants around them. Over time, a huge amount of knowledge was accumulated about the power of plants to heal and nourish, about the amazing plethora of life right under our feet and all around us.  In more modern times, as food sources have become more centralized, more people citified, wisewoman healers persecuted and indigenous, tribal communities torn apart through colonization, much of this knowledge became lost. More and more people are now realizing how vital it is to reclaim our connection to nature and learn from those who tenaciously held onto this relationship and knowledge. Our relationship to nature is innate. We can recall and remember. We all have access to her language.

Connection to nature helps us feel a sense of belonging. Each of us can empower ourselves through a reconnection to ancestral knowledge and relearn how to heal in harmony with ourselves and with nature. The path of herbalism has helped me heal on all levels of mind, body and spirit. It’s an honor to facilitate this remembering for others. Through the practices and hands on learning we share during Sacred Warrior Herbalism Courses and retreats, each student deepens relationship to their bodies and the body of the earth. Everyone is encouraged to explore their unique and intuitive approach to healing. We learn so much about ourselves and from each other with the help of our plant allies.

Here are what a couple students have said about their experience:

“One of the many ways to dismantle oppression is to reclaim our divine connection with this earth. we are not separate, we never have been. i am so grateful for my herbalism class with @sacredwarrior7 at @loveisjuniper it has truly been life-changing.”~ Tory

“The herbalism course was a deeply transformative experience for me. Vanessa encourages you to recognize your own power and agency in relationship to your health. I am incredibly for such a warm and welcoming community of like-minded folks. I look forward to walking further along the plant path.” ~ Bianca
